After having this printer/fax for several months I found good things and bad things about it.

It prints fast and the fax is easy to use. You can customize it and have speed numbers on it too. You can turn the ringer off. You can have it automatically answer faxes or turn that feature off.

But, I also notice that you may be going through alot of toner cartridges fast. Or even the drums. There doesn't seemt to be a brush that wipes off the excess toner on the drum, there only seems to be some spongy roller that comes in contact with the drum. So what happens is that it leaves streaks on the printed paper. You can wipe off the drum with a kleenex but the streaks appear immediately again. I'm not sure if I just need to replace that spongy roller or just replace the toner catridge (no low toner warning has come up yet).

I also notice that the printer "cycles" as if it's getting ready to print something, every day at 1am, and I can't seem to get it to stop doing that. This got really annoying since this was in our bedroom so I changed the time by 12 hours. Unfortunately, after we got caller ID, the time is automatically corrected because of the phone line. So I just moved the printer to another room.

So if you are looking to get this to print up some papers that need excellent quality, you'll get it for the first few months and then you may see the streaks. How you fix that is up to you, right now I'm just living with it since I only use the printer for printing up small lists or directions to somewhere, resumes are out of the question.

Pro: good quality, copies great, easy to use fax, is a phone in itself.
Con: gets streaks after heavy use. "cycles" every day at 1am.
Not recommend!

On Jan. 31, 2008 I purchased this new Panasonic KX-FLM651 from Amazon.com. This is my third generation of this machine. But its motor automatically cycles every day at 1 am, like other buyer saying here, I can't seem to get it to stop doing that. This got really annoying since this was in my bedroom. I called Panasonic Help Line 1-800-435-7329 more than three weeks ago, trying asking them to give me a hand to solve this problem. Its supervisor (in Philippine) asked me for serial number, my contact information including telephone number and e-mail. I also wrote email to Panasonic Services. But I have not got any feedbacks from Panasonic until now. I have to unplug the fax machine's power supply when not using it. Not recommend buying this fax machine!
